optimization of bg11 culture medium for increasing antifungal activity of cyanobacterium sp. pgu1 against some plant pathogenic fungi
Authors
abstract
cyanobacteria have been considered due to producuction of types of secondary metabolites and antimicrobial compounds. this research designated for optimization of bg11 culture medium to increase the antifungal activity of cyanobacterium sp. pgu1 against the plant pathogenic fungi, fusarium oxysporum f. sp lycopersici and rhizoctonia solaniag2-2-iiib. cyanobacterium was isolated from the persian gulf and identified as cyanobacterium sp. using morphological characteristics and 16s rrna sequencing. optimization was done by changing the amount of nitrogen (nano3) (0.75, 1.5 and 3 g/l) and phosphate (k2hpo4) (0.02, 0.04 and 0.08 g/l) and then the antifungal activity of cyanobacterium was investigated. antifungal effects of pure culture methanol extract of cyanobacterium were investigated under in vitro conditions by mixing the extract derived from pure culture before and after optimization to the pathogen culture medium. growth inhibition percentage for f. oxysporum f. sp. lycopersici and r. solani ag2-2-iiib increased from 79.33 to 87.43, and from 82.47 to 90.62 percent, respectively.

full textAntifungal activity of Aloe vera pulp against plant pathogenic fungi
The leaf pulp of Aloe vera Tourn. ex Linn., designated as the gel, and the bitter, yellow liquid fraction have been tested against pathogens (bacteria and fungi) affecting human and plants. However, their activity for fungal control in commercial industrial crops has not been determined. Thus, researchers at Mexico carried out studies to evaluate the inhibitory effect of Aloe pulp and liquid fr...

Skin infection caused by Tricophyton rubrum and some opportunistic fungi such as Candida. Albicance and Aspergillus. fumigatus occur in various parts of the body and sometimes are difficult to be treated. Antifungal effects of spherical silver nanoparticles (nano-Ag) were investigated in this study. Although silver nanoparticle has long been used as effective inorganic antifungal agent; the ant...

Leptadenia pyrotechnica was evaluated for its antifungal activity against some pathogenic fungi. Extracts in different organic solvents were used for disc diffusion assay. Hexane and ethyl acetate extracts have showed maximum inhibition zone against A. niger (15mm and 12.2 mm respectively). Methanol extract showed maximum activity against F. oxysporium (13.0mm) and A. flavus (15mm) while aqueou...
full textAntifungal potential of leaf extract of Datura stramonium L., against some important plant pathogenic fungi
Chemical fungicides are used worldwide for enhance crop yield and control plant diseases. When crops are treated with chemical fungicides over a long period then some fungi develop resistance to these chemicals beside this these chemicals are harmful to other non target microorganism and disturb microbial community of soil. In view of these facts, it is urgent need to discover eco friendly, ren...
